Vocal Consort

Vocal Consort is an auditioned mixed-voice ensemble dedicated to the exploration and performance of early music, with repertoire spanning from 400 AD to 1850. Comprised of highly motivated student musicians from a variety of academic disciplines, the ensemble provides a unique opportunity to engage with historically-informed performance practices. Vocal Consort challenges singers to grow both individually and as a chamber ensemble, fostering musical excellence through repertoire that demands precision, expressivity, and close collaboration.
This season, Vocal Consort will present a student-led lecture recital. Through spoken introductions and musical performance, students will explore the historical context of the repertoire, the lives of the composers, and the musical building blocks that shaped each piece. Audiences are invited to discover the richness of early music through the voices of emerging scholars and performers.
