Dr. Lito M. Amit CSP CIT

Dr. Lito Amit brings a rich and interdisciplinary background to the field of occupational safety and health, combining academic rigor with practical experience. He holds a Doctor of Health Science in Public Health with a specialization in Ergonomics and a Master of Science in Occupational Health (Ergonomics), both from Daegu Catholic University in South Korea. He also earned a Master of Arts in Science Education from Christ the King College and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, majoring in Biology, from Northwest Samar State University in the Philippines. Currently, he is expanding his expertise through a Graduate Certificate in Assistive Technology at the University of New Hampshire.
Dr. Amit is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Instructional Trainer (CIT), and Associate Safety Professional (ASP), all awarded by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. He’s also a Licensed Professional Teacher (LPT) through the Professional Regulation Commission in the Philippines.
He teaches a wide range of occupational safety and health courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. His undergraduate teaching includes courses such as Safety Research Methods, Health Hazard Identification, Human Factors in Safety, Occupational Safety, and Safety Awareness. At the graduate level, he leads classes in Advanced Safety Research, Applied Occupational Health, Best Practices in Safety, and Current Issues in Safety. Known for fostering a dynamic and inclusive classroom environment, Dr. Amit encourages student engagement through discussion, inquiry, and hands-on activities. His teaching philosophy emphasizes curiosity, collaboration, and real-world application—qualities that make students eager to return to his classes.
His research interests include musculoskeletal disorders, office ergonomics, occupational biomechanics, cognitive ergonomics, psychosocial and physical workplace hazards, and innovative interventions such as exoskeletons and wearable technologies. A hallmark of his research is student involvement. He actively engages them in research projects, conference presentations—both local and international, and consulting work, cultivating future safety professionals who are prepared to make meaningful contributions in the field.
