Kimberly Lauffer

I joined KSC in August 2021 as an assistant professor of journalism, multimedia and public relations. I have taught since the early ‘90s, except for a four-year stint as the web editor for Alma College (MI).

My bachelor’s and master’s degrees are from Michigan State University, and I earned my doctoral degree at the University of Florida.

I believe in hands-on learning that emphasizes mastery of skills, particularly in writing and design. I believe that media literacy—understanding how media are created and being able to critically evaluate their content—is an essential skill for all people. I also believe the world needs dedicated, authentic, trustworthy journalists.
