Welcome to Fraternity & Sorority Life at Keene State College! Our fraternity and sorority community is deeply rooted in the values of each organization as well as shared community values of academic success, accountability, service, and leadership development.
Becoming a member of a fraternity or sorority is an individual decision, and adds great benefit to the undergraduate college experience. Membership within our community provides students numerous opportunities to establish and develop skills, networks and relationships that are life-lasting.
Fall semester is when both fraternity and sorority chapters host their formal recruitment period. Participating in recruitment is not committing to membership in a fraternity or sorority; it is designed as a way for interested students to learn more about each chapter and what it looks like to be part of the community. Formal recruitment includes open house events hosted by each chapter which will give potential new members the opportunity to interact with active members, learning more about their individual values, costs, and programs. Once the open house round concludes, chapters will host invite only rounds in which a select number of potential new members will be invited. After the invitation only events, chapters will submit bid lists to their councils of oversight, with fraternity recruitment overseen by the Interfraternity Council, and sorority recruitment managed by the College Panhellenic Council. Both groups then operate under different guidelines to best match potential new members with a fraternity or sorority. Potential new members receiving bids will have the option to accept or deny the bid. IFC and the Panhellenic Council will educate members on their rights in determining when they will accept or reject the bid. Members accepting bids will be invited to a bid day celebration where they will meet with their chapter.
Fraternity recruitment will begin on Sunday, September 27. A form to sign up for recruitment is not yet available.
